That's a Wrap!

I cannot believe that this is the last blog post I will be writing for APENG. At the beginning of the year, I remember when Ms. Benedetti gave us the timeline for all blogs and saw that the last blog would be due in May. I thought to myself that this day would never come; however, here we are.

Blogging has been a love-hate relationship for me. I remember in the beginning I enjoyed it; being able to explore my identity and myself, but as the year continued blogging and answering comments became more of a chore rather than something I looked forward to. However, I cannot lie that I have learned so many new and exciting things about our country, the world, our bodies, my classmates, psychology, etc.

To me, the most memorable part of our blogging assignment has to be reading my classmates' blogs. I will not lie, sometimes I have absolutely no idea what some of my classmates are talking about and will have to read their blog posts multiple times to come up with an insightful comment. On the other hand, there are blog posts that truly capture my attention, make me reflect on myself, and teach something new about the world; this is the part I enjoy.

Overall, blogging has given me a reason to research topics, learn something new about my surroundings, help me enhance my writing, and apply the skills I learned in class. Blogging, in a way, is a representation of my journey in APENG.

  1. Hey Kirti! I must admit, I too had a very oscillating relationship with my blog posts. There would be weeks I would be really excited to write about a very depressing incident this year and other days when I would realize I forgot to write my blog post at 9:45 pm on a blog post night. Nonetheless, it was a great experience. I got to rant and read about lots of really interesting phenomena. More importantly, I got to write to my peers rather than just to Ms. Benedetti. I was definitely allowed to express myself much more freely without the constraints of APENG formal writing expectations. It’s been fun. Thank you for sharing!

  2. Hi Kirti! I can't believe that this week marks our last blog post either. But I can completely relate to your love-hate relationship with blogging. It was really full of ups and downs, just like this entire school year. Writing blog posts almost every week did sound tedious when we were first introduced to the assignment. Even though I still do tend to think of that, I really like learning about new things from everyone's posts and also learning about interesting facts and phenomena to write my own posts. This type of writing is very nice, because we are able to express ourselves more. Like what you mentioned, I had absolutely no idea how to write carefully crafted, perfectly insightful blog comments, but now I've stopped caring and just written what genuinely comes to mind.

  3. Hey Kirti! I also had that feeling that the end of blogging would never come. But here we are. Tempus fugit and all that. For me blogging has always been an interesting thing to do. Writing was always fun, but only the blog comments bored me to the point where it was just me mechanically doing it back and forth. Reading all this stuff is certainly interesting, so thanks to all my classmates for making this a memorable year.

  4. Hi Kirti, I share very similar thoughts on blogging. I think that if I have an interesting topic in mind to write about for a blog, I will enjoy writing it. However, I have spent some weeks desperately looking for a topic and it became a big chore. Comments are similar: some blogs were super interesting to read, while with others I struggled to come up with a response to. Either way, I think I liked this whole concept because I got to learn so much about my classmates in my blogging cohort through this experience.

  5. Hi Kirti! I also can not believe that our blogging assignment and APENG as a whole are coming to an end so soon. The time literally flew by. This is my last blog for APENG, but I definitely do not want it to be the last blog I ever write; I had so much fun exploring new topics and reflecting on myself when writing blogs that I definitely want to continue in the future. My favorite part of blogging is also reading my classmate’s blogs. I have learned so much about all kinds of different topics and even about my peers from their blogs. I am so sad that APENG is coming to an end, but I learned so much and had so much fun along the way. Thank you for sharing!

  6. Hey Kirti, I have always disliked writing blogs and comments as they were always a very tedious process for me. However, I had an enjoyable time reading everyone’s blogs, but it was just having to think of a comment for every single blog that annoyed me a lot. While I don’t like to admit it, blogging has definitely improved my writing and deepened my knowledge on various topics and news. I am glad that we don’t have to do this next year. Thank you for sharing!

  7. Hi Kirti, I do agree that this year seemed to fly by. I recall how throughout the year I was always complaining that it felt like the end of the year felt so far away, but now, it's almost here. I will certainly miss having English with you and I hope we will get classes together next year and I get to spend another season of swimming with you!

  8. Hey Kirti, the concept of "blogging" has also developed a strong "love-hate" relationship with myself. I really enjoyed being finally able to write articles not constrained to the tedious expectations of formal writing; I was finally able to write with tones that are informal and fun. However, I found myself to often struggle with coming up with ideas to discuss about, as the general topics given by our APENG teachers seemed very limited. However, I soon realized these topics were actually very expandable, and that allowed me to truly enjoy blogging. Although it seemed like a repetitive chore at times, it was mostly pretty enjoyable.
